Dear future employer,

My name is Laura Kate Genevish, and I am pursuing a career as an elementary school teacher. I would like to begin my teaching in the Hampton Roads area of southeastern Virginia, but I am willing to consider school systems outside of that location as well.

Over my three years of undergrad at Christopher Newport University, I have volunteered in the Newport News Public School system in multiple capacities - from reading with first graders to overseeing third grade recess and lunch to organizing the reading specialist's library. In addition to spending hours each week in elementary schools, I also regularly serve the youth ministry at my church by leading an eighth grade girls' small group where I facilitate discussion and practice mentorship. On campus, co-leading our chapter of Cru allows me to plan events, speak in public, and oversee many working parts at the same time. These experiences, among others, have allowed me to become detail-oriented, relationship-based, and committed to excellence in all I do.
